TU Delft team including Sander van Aken, Patrick Looij and TRAIL Staff member Nikola Bešinović has won the European TRA Visions Young Researcher Award for 2018. Congratulations!
TU Delft team proposed a new integrated mathematical framework for adjusting railway timetables during maintenance possessions. Their approach guarantees consistent decisions making on a network level, timetable feasibility and robustness against disturbances as well as significantly reduces production times. The research was conducted in cooperation with the main Dutch train operator Netherlands Railways (NS). The team supervisor was Prof Rob Goverde. Patrick Looij was presented with the award by Violeta Bulc, European Commissioner for Transport, and Carlo Borghini, Executive Director of Shift2Rail JU, at the 2018 Transport Research Arena Conference in Vienna on 16 April 2018
