Seminar – Disruptions, Emergencies, and the Resiliency of Transport Systems

May 24, 2018 09.00 - 11.00 h

On 24 May 2018, TRAIL PhD researcher Jeroen van der Gun will defend his PhD thesis Multimodal Transportation Simulation for Emergencies using the Link Transmission Model’ at Delft University of Technology.

On the occasion of his public defence, TRAIL and TU Delft have set up a seminar on: Disruptions, emergencies, and the resiliency of transport systems.

Multimodal transport systems provide critical infrastructure and services for our society and economy, but are also vulnerable to disruptions and emergencies. Resiliency is the ability to maintain functional integrity, and is increasingly attracting concern in science and society. The body of research on disruptions, emergencies and the resiliency of transport systems aims to analyse and explain how stochastic variations and disruptions affect transport systems, as well as derive and show how network design, contingency planning and traffic management can be strategically used to increase resiliency. In this seminar, the speakers elaborate on various facets of resilience of transport systems.
