This seminar is organised on the occasion of the public defence by TRAL PhD student Guus Tamminga.
Traffic Flow Estimation: applying simulation models and data estimation methods
The rapid development of vehicle automation and communication systems will change our driving behaviour. Both car following and lane changing behaviour of vehicles will be affected, but the pace of these developments and their impact on traffic flows is still uncertain. This creates new challenges for traffic simulation models and methods. We need to incorporate and simulate these new systems in order to estimate their impact on both capacity and traffic safety. For validating and calibrating these models, an efficient exchange of data from external data sources remains an important issue. The speakers in this seminar will discuss these topics from different viewpoints.
