Public defense 13 January

On 13 January 2015 TRAIL PhD student Teus van Vianen defended his thesis ‘Simulation-integrated Design of Dry Bulk Terminals’ successfully at University of Twente. Congratulations, Teus!

To meet the expected increase of seaborne trade fl ows for coal and iron ore dry bulk terminals need to be designed or expanded. Additions to existing design methods are formulated in this thesis and dedicated simulation models are developed to support the design process.
These models include the stochastic processes and operational procedures that occur during daily operations and proved to be successful in the formulation and assessment of (re)designs.
