On 22 June 2017 TRAIL PhD student Anahiat Jamshidnejad successfully defended her thesis  ‘Efficient Predictive Model-Based and Fuzzy Control for Green Urban Mobility’ at Delft Unviersity of Technology.

Short summary

In this PhD thesis, first we develop microscopic formulas and algorithms to estimate the temporal-spatial fundamental traffic variables from point measurements. Next, efficient model-based control approaches, including model-predictive control and type-2 fuzzy control, are proposed, which can be applied to systems with highly nonlinear, time-delayed dynamics, in particular large-scale urban traffic networks.
