Traveling to the Netherlands
By air
– Amsterdam Schiphol Airport
From the arrivals hall you can walk to the train station which is located directly underneath the airport. The train journey from Schiphol to the centre of THe Hague takes just 30 minutes.
– The Hague – Rotterdam Airport
You can travel quickly and easily from the airport to both of The Hague’s main train stations

By train
The Hague has two main train stations. Trains from Belgium, Amsterdam/Schiphol and Rotterdam arrive at the Hollands Spoor station, whilst trains from the Germany and Utrecht direction come into Den Haag Central Station. The city centre is a five to ten minute walk from either station. By tram or bus it’s even quicker.

Places to stay
In The Hague you can find a wide variety of places to stay, from low budget to first class hotels. Here are some suggestions located in the vicinity of the Summer School:

From theses hotels you can either walk or take a short ride on bus or tram to the Summer school.

Public transport in The Hague
To be able to travel by public transport in The Hague you will need an OV-chipkaart with sufficient credit on it for your journey. An anonymous OV-chipkaart for public transport can be purchased at railway station ticket machines and at stores including Albert Heijn, Bruna and Primera. You can top up your OV-chipkaart at the HTM service points in both The Hague Central and The Hague Hollands Spoor (HS) station. And if don’t have an OV-chipkaart? You can buy a day card for one day’s unlimited travel on HTM transport at the Tourist Information Office (the ‘VVV’) in The Hague.

In order to validate the day ticket in The Hague, you need to check in and out when you get on and off public transportation. Scanner machines to validate tickets (the same machines for the OV-chipcard) are located by the doors of all trams and buses. The day ticket is valid from when it is first validated until the end of service that day.

Renting a bike
Bicycles can be hired at the railway stations and at the Biesieklette in the city centre.
