Staff member Gonçalo H. A. Correia editor-in-chief of the open-access npj Series: sustainable mobility and transport

The first Nature-published journal in the field of Transport has been created. Gonçalo H. A. Correia (TU Delft – CiTG – T&P and Staff member of TRAIL) will be the editor-in-chief of the open-access 𝐧𝐩𝐣 𝐉𝐎𝐔𝐑𝐍𝐀𝐋 𝐎𝐅 𝐒𝐔𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐈𝐍𝐀𝐁𝐋𝐄 𝐌𝐎𝐁𝐈𝐋𝐈𝐓𝐘 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐓𝐑𝐀𝐍𝐒𝐏𝐎𝐑𝐓. He will work together with Marta C. Gonzalez (UC Berkeley), Karel Martens (Technion), Shadi Sharif Azadeh (TU Delft), Lelitha Devi Vanajakshi (IIT Madras), Luis A. Guzman (Universidad de los Andes), and Quan Yuan (Tongji University).

The journal encourages research that considers transport as an 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐚 𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐫, 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐬𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦 𝐨𝐟 𝐬𝐮𝐛-𝐬𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐬. Its primary objective is to address the challenges associated with transportation and mobility systems as holistic entities, recognizing their interconnections with other components such as 𝒍𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒖𝒔𝒆, 𝒖𝒓𝒃𝒂𝒏 𝒔𝒑𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒂𝒍 𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒔𝒕𝒓𝒂𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒔, 𝒔𝒐𝒄𝒊𝒂𝒍 𝒆𝒒𝒖𝒊𝒕𝒚, 𝒆𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒐𝒎𝒊𝒄 𝒂𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒗𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒆𝒔, 𝒆𝒏𝒆𝒓𝒈𝒚 𝒔𝒚𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒎𝒔, 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒆𝒏𝒗𝒊𝒓𝒐𝒏𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕 to name a few. The ultimate goal is to contribute to the mitigation of the unintended adverse effects of transportation, including 𝒆𝒎𝒊𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔, 𝒆𝒏𝒆𝒓𝒈𝒚 𝒘𝒂𝒔𝒕𝒆, 𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒈𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏-𝒓𝒆𝒍𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝒕𝒊𝒎𝒆 𝒍𝒐𝒔𝒔𝒆𝒔, 𝒍𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒔𝒖𝒎𝒑𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏, 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒕𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒔𝒑𝒐𝒓t 𝒑𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒕𝒚, through the publication of interdisciplinary research on 𝐩𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐬, 𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐬, 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬, 𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬, 𝐨𝐫 𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐬 that tackle the challenges that we are facing.
