Objective
The aim of this course is to support PhD students in writing and publishing a scientific article about their research in the TIL domain.

Course description
Morning session (Vincent Marchau)

  • how to write a good article, in terms of structure, message, positioning, added value, etc.
  • includes a hands-on writing exercise.

Afternoon session (Caspar Chorus)

  • Measuring journal quality: impact factors and subjective quality aspects: what is the right journal for you?
  • How to survive the review process? Dos and don’ts, communicating with the editor and referees.

Program
The course consists of a lecture about writing and publishing a TRAIL research article, and an assignment in which the PhD student is requested to write an extended abstract (or rewrite an existing extended abstract) on (part of) his/her research and motivate his/her choice for a specific journal. The abstract and motivation for choosing a specific journal will be reviewed.
